Prep ahead steps

You can add prep ahead steps to a recipe to let people know what they can do ahead of time. Any prep ahead steps added to a recipe will automatically appear on a meal plan when that recipe is used.

Enable prep ahead steps

To enable or disable prep ahead steps, go to Settings > App settings > Prep ahead settings. Select whether to enable or disable, and then Save changes.

Select sorting option

Once enabled, you can choose how to organize prep ahead steps on your meal plans and PDF exports: by recipe or by category.

Sort by recipe

If you choose to sort prep steps by recipe, they will be grouped by the recipe they belong to.

Sort by category

If you choose to sort prep steps by category, they will be grouped in to categories (e.g. "Prep veggies").

You can edit the prep ahead categories for your app in your app settings. You can also reorder them. This will determine how they are shown on the meal plan and PDF export.

Add prep ahead steps to a recipe

If prep ahead steps are enabled, you can add prep ahead steps when you create or edit a recipe.

Insert an ingredient by typing @ and selecting from the list.

If you have chosen to sort prep ahead steps by category, then you can also group the prep ahead steps into categories on the recipe editor page.

Add prep ahead steps to a meal plan

Prep ahead steps will automatically appear on a meal plan when a recipe containing prep ahead steps is used. You cannot manually edit the prep ahead steps on a meal plan.
